Mawson Primary School students, Principal Amanda Andrews and Deputy Principal Rohan Evans, Mandarin language teacher Jia Zhu, with the then Prime Minister of Australia the Honourable Julia Gilliard and Her Excellency, Liu Wan Dong, state counsellor of the Peoples' Republic of China at the Great Hall, Parliament House to celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Australia and China on 12 December 2012.at the Chinese dinner held at Parliament house in 2012. The students sang "My Friends- wo de peng you" and "Mouse loves Rice – lao shu ai da mi".
