Hearing Support Unit
Mawson Primary School is the designated school on the southside of Canberra that caters for the needs of hearing impaired students. These students are integrated into age appropriate mainstream classes and participate in the full life of the school. The school community is committed to provide a learning environment that meets the educational and social needs of hearing impaired students and to support their families. Student Using Computer
Qualified teachers of the hearing impaired provide specialist programs in the area of language development, speech, and auditory learning and total communication. Special teacher’s assistants work collaboratively as part of the team to support these students in class.
Mawson Primary School offers a Signing Club for interested children. Erindale College also offers evening Signed English classes for interested families.
