Enrolling in our school
Our school welcomes enrolments from students living in our Priority Enrolment Area. To enrol in our school and find out more about the enrolment process and key dates, go to the Education Directorate website where you will also find an online enrolment application form.
Students enrol into the MIP program in Kindergarten through an expression of interest process.
During Term 2 parents are sent an expression of interest form and enrolments into the MIP program are only considered if there are places available. Entry into the Mandarin Immersion Program is based on the following criteria:
*Students who are native Mandarin speakers
*Students who have a Mandarin speaking parent or family member
*Students with prior knowledge of Mandarin, e.g. those enrolled in the Chinese Australian Early Childhood Centre
*Students who can demonstrate suitability to a bilingual Mandarin/English program through prior knowledge of the language
*Parental commitment to the school’s Mandarin/English bilingual program
*Active support of current siblings in the bilingual program and/or any other relevant supporting evidence.
Enrolment into the MIP program for students in year levels other than kindergarten is rare and while based on the above criteria also requires a formal assessment of the students Mandarin level. This assessment is led by the Mandarin executive teacher to assess and ensure the students understanding and knowledge are in alignment with the MIP program and cohort at the time of assessment.
